Day 1 :

Arrival in Hanoi – Half-Day City Tour

Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be warmly greeted by our local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After some rest, embark on a half-day city tour starting at Ba Dinh Square, the heart of Hanoi’s cultural and political activities. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, including the Mausoleum, the Stilt House, the Fishpond, and the One-Pillar Pagoda. Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, before taking a unique one-hour cyclo ride through the narrow streets of the Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake, also known as the “Sword Lake.” After a fascinating day, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Hanoi.

Day 2 :

Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Hoa Lu – Tam Coc (B/L) – SIC Tour

After breakfast, embark on a scenic 90-kilometer drive south to Ninh Binh, Vietnam’s ancient capital. Begin the day with a mesmerizing boat ride through the Tam Coc Caves, where limestone karsts emerge from lush green fields, creating a breathtaking scene often compared to Halong Bay. Following a local lunch, explore Hoa Lu, the site of the 10th-century royal palaces, and admire the intricate wooden reliefs of the Dinh and Le temples. Conclude the day with a peaceful visit to Bich Dong Pagoda before returning to Hanoi for an overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Hanoi – Halong – Overnight Cruise (B/L/D) – Shuttle Bus

After breakfast and checkout, depart at 9 AM for Halong Bay. Enjoy a scenic three-hour drive through the Red River Delta, passing by green paddy fields and picturesque rural villages. Upon arrival at Halong Bay, board your overnight cruise to experience the stunning seascape of thousands of limestone islands and karst formations. After a delicious onboard lunch, explore grottos, swim, or kayak around the islets. In the evening, enjoy a cooking demonstration before a delightful dinner. Various leisure activities are available on the cruise. Spend the night onboard amidst the tranquil waters of Halong Bay.

Day 4 :

Halong – Hanoi (B/L) – Shuttle Bus

Rise early to witness a magnificent sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, continue cruising through Halong Bay’s famous islets, including Sail Island, Fisherman's Head Rock, Butterfly Rock, and Turtle Islet. Check out of your cabin and enjoy a delicious brunch on board as the cruise returns to the pier. Disembark and transfer back to Hanoi, where you will check into your hotel. Enjoy some leisure time in Hanoi before spending the night in the city.

Day 05 :

Hanoi Departure (B)

After breakfast, enjoy free time until your airport transfer. A comfortable vehicle will take you to the airport (without a guide) for your departure flight. Though your journey comes to an end, the beautiful memories and experiences of Vietnam will stay with you forever.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
